DAY 7 – LIVESESSION WITH STARS
Wow, what a day! First Carls wife picked me up for a lesson with him. They’re in vacation cause of their marriage anniversary. He’ll come back later this week and we’ll have our last lessons on Friday. 2 Hours of playing and then one hour of talking about gear. Well after I spend my day with writing mails, sleeping a bit and hanging out with some friends I went down to Sherman Oaks with the bus. Bruce Watson invited me to a session with some really famous guys. Snaffy (I hope I’m spelling it right) who ist one of the two most successful tv-music producer of the world, then the Drummer of Brian Setzer, Curt who is a genius bass player and engineer, a 19 year old female singer. Actually I forgot her name but she was insane, sang like never did anything else! And then of course Bruce Watson who ist one of the “first-call” guys in Los Angeles for studio sessions. Also the most faous guitar-tech of the world has been there. He customized guitars for everyone except Hendrix. I’m not kidding!!!
But it’s been not that easy to get to the session. Google told me to take the bus half an hour to Sherman Oaks. The bus driver told me that there are about 1o stops in Sherman Oaks so I better should find out where I have to leave. I asked a friend of mine and she told me to leave at the Kester Ave. Well so far so good. But the Cafe Cordial had the adress 14020 Ventura Blv and Kever Ave/Ventura Blv started with 14569. So I walked all the way down, about 2 miles and it felt like 100 blocks. After 25 minutes I found the Session and then I had a wonderful evening. I had a talk to everybody drank some cokes (You have to be 21 to drink anything else) and after that Bruce, the git-tech, the Keys-player and me went to a little restaurant where I had my very first classical american Pancakes with Blueberries. Bruce gave me a ride home and told me that it might be possible to sit in a session on tuesday at the fireworks studios in Pasadena, a wonderful studio !
That evening was great, I’m happy guys!
Best regards, Jannek
